Hi all,

My new card came on Monday and installation went fine on its own.
I have however encounter some problems. And I have some solutions as
well.

  MacOS : 9.0.4
  RAM : 192 megs (interleaved)
Slot 1: ATTO Dual Channel Ultra Wide (ExpressPCI Pro)
Slot 2: Twin Turbo (The same one that came with it originally)
  Slot 3: Orange Micro USB/Firewire
Slot 4: EDS-1000 (Not to be confused with the EDS-100 these are used
Slot 5: EDS-1000 (to handle digital audio with Ensoniq PARIS)
Slot 6: DigiDesign AudioMedia Sound card

External Drives: Seagate 18 gigs, 7200 rpm - Hot swaps (x2)
                   Plextor CD-RW 8220
Sony SDT-1000 Tape Drive (20 gigs)

(all four devices in enclosed in a 19" rackmount created by Glyph
Technologies AKA "Trip Rack." The Rack has one power button that
turns all four on or off)

After the installation my S900 would freeze on the startup screen. I
was quite dismayed until I intuitively thought to power down the four
external devices. The computer then booted with no problem.

I then called Glyph to see what the possible problem could be and I was
told that G4s are incompatible with the Ultra Wide PCI card. (I never
believe these sort of things so I did some investigating on the web)

Thank goodness for xlr8yourmac for sure! I found the article about an OEM
hack that entailed flashing the firmware. I figured what could it hurt. So
(minus the need for the hack since mine is not OEM) I flashed to version
1.6.4U. The system however still hung on the startup screen. I then
discovered
version 1.6.6U (PCIExpress Pro Updater 1.6.6U found on attotech.com's
download area). The system booted!!! I could now access those four devices.

I also had the same problem that someone else mentioned about the cursor
being a big fuzzy block on startup. I turned off the "sync to green" in
twin turbo's control panel and all seems to be fine. The colors will still
freak out though now and then. Looks like a 16 color palette or something.
This may however be related to interleaving and part of the problem below.

Another problem has popped up: Programs seem to crash intermittently.

What I'm going to do next is turn off those four external devices once again
to see if the system still crashes now and then. If so, then I will go ahead
and de-interleave the RAM. If not, then I will assume it's still some issue
with the Ultra Wide card.

SOoooo.... beyond that does anyone have any other suggestions or need more info
from me to add some input?

Thanks so much!!! This list is a lifesaver!
