Well, I wish it weren't so, but OS X on a unsupported processor, like the older 604 family, or even a G3/233, isn't much fun. Booting into OS 9 after trying X on a slow processor makes OS 9 seem lightning fast. I'm not saying don't try X out, but just that any real computing needs will cause you to choose OS 9 due to it's much superior responsiveness. I know what you mean about this SM List, I have a G4/867 and my S900 is now serving tunes under my desk, but I'm staying around for a while anyway.
