Well, this speaks for the 2400, I like a good software package. I'm not willing to pay $125 more just for FireWire, + $50 for a FireWire card. I hope USB 1.1 will be fast enough for now (is it much slower than SCSI?), and if I switch to a newer Mac (or upgrade the S900) with OS X in the future, I can use a USB 2.0 card. I'd still like to see a scan from the 1260 Photo, which costs only $139, but I get the strong feeling that the 2400 is the scanner of choice. >> - Will the Epson work with the USB card sitting in the lowest slot of my >> S900 (works fine with a Wacom tablet and a Epson printer)? > > > I only run my scanner off the SCSI port on my S900. Just if you don't have to do additional installations. I'd be very thankful. > If you have problems, try moving the card into one of the upper two slots > (the usual blind recommendation). I already have 4 PCI cards, one of them - the Formac ProTV - won't work in the lower slots. I don't know if the Radeon 7000 would, but I like to have the graphics card in slot A or B because it's definitely faster up there. For now, there's no problem with my USB card, just that I can't move it to one of the upper slots. Forgot to say that it even works with a Logitech Joystick. If it fails, I can still try a powered hub. I'll definitely pay $20 more and go to a shop with good service and the option to bring the scanner back in if everything fails. Many thanks for now, I think I'll go to the shop on Tuesday. Chrisso -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
