Well I was going to suggest trading video cards, but it looks like you've done that. Out of curiosity have you tried the RageII + DVD card in your good S900. It's conceivable that it is a PC card rather than a Mac video card. Still, that shouldn't cause you a problem other than the machine not outputting any video with that specific card. Howie's advice is a good thing to try, though the battery out and unplugged trick has the same effect, it just takes longer than Howie's suggestion. What other PCI cards do you have in the machine? Have you tried pulling all the PCI cards except the video card, unplug all SCSI cables from the motherboard and remove all RAM. There's 16 MB RAM soldered to the motherboard, so removing all RAM will still let you test the machine. True, with all SCSI cables disconnected and PCI cards pulled, you won't have an OS, but at this point getting to the gray screen with the flashing question mark will be a victory. >Purchased for not much more than a power supply and considering the >extra bits, memory, CD etc... no great loss if its gone dead at the >motherboard level. I have the ability to repair at the component level, but generally have to guess at what needs repairing. In other words, I have neither the equipment nor the ability to make really certain diagnoses. If your lower four slots go out, there's really only one component that can be at fault. If the upper two PCI slots are also not working, things are more complex. And in general, it's cheaper to buy a new motherboard on Ebay than to invest the time in motherboard repair. I do it more for fun than anything, time permitting. The S900 MBs have gotten really cheap. I saw one that started at $1 a month or so ago and I think no-one bid on it.
