I upgraded from the original 200 mhz 604e to a Sonnet G4 450.   The 
difference is huge, dramatic, and well worth the $265 I paid 8 months ago 
for the card.

The motherboard cache can be disabled by software.   I didn't know this at 
the time, so I soldered a small wire across J38 (I think that's the one!) on 
the motherboard.   Now that I'm using the Powerlogix cache software, it does 
indeed show that the motherboard cache is "not present".

If you're at all serious about running OS X on an S900, you need to get the 
fastest CPU card you can afford.   A good video card and faster hard drives 
help also.
