If you're talking about upgrading from the original 604, then YES!  I have a
Sonnet Crescendo G3/400 with 1MB cache.  The sonnet software disables the
on-board cache in favor of it's own, and yes, it is much faster.  PhotoShop
is my primary application, and I performed some benchmarks before & after
the processor upgrade.  Typical processor-intensive operations gave me a
speed increase of about 75-80%.  Ie, operations that used to take a minute
now run in about 35sec.

I chose the Sonnet because A) It's an easy upgrade (no tweaking cpu/bus
speed), and B) I found one second hand for about $60.
