Fan or no fan I found that when running Mac OS 8/9 sooner or later with 
Spec Processing on Apps and or the machine will start crashing. Both my 
C500 and J700 had this issue and most upgrade companies recommend 
turning it off. OSX( which can be ran on a C500 with a G3 Zif 
upgrade...It's not an easy thing to get running but it is possible) 
lets you run with Spec processing on and you do get a bit of speed from 
it. It also can cause data corruption on your hard drive when crashing 
so be careful trying it. Will S
