Beats me.  I will simply throw out that my DVD-ROM drive seems to be 
well supported under OS8.6 and OS 9.1 just using the unmodified Apple 
DVD/CDROM extension.   My DVD drive is connected to a VST card and 
the card is seen as a SCSI device in classic OS.
