Pretty much just for the NewerTech cards, and I'm not even sure it's still valid for them.

- Does S900's motherboard even support fully EDO dram? If not edo can
be harmful and even damage something by some souce.
The S900 does not make use of the special qualities of EDO RAM, however, it is fully compatible with EDO RAM. It will simply treat it as FPM RAM.

The Catalyst motherboard (7200 and related clones) can be damaged by EDO RAM. This does not apply to any of Umax's machines as none of them are Catalyst based. Power Computing made several clones based on the Catalyst motherboard design.

- Someone wrote earlier differents between high and low profile dimms.
I can't remember what. Is there any fact for those differents?
It shouldn't matter in the S900/J700 as there is plenty of room in the case for tall DIMMs.

There is really sometimes
bombs and strange freezings with this supermac, Sonnet Crescendo G4
800 and OS 9.1 and in all 448 MB dimms pairs by size in six banks.
Anyway there were more bombs with original card and earlier systems.
You may simply have some bad RAM. You should test your RAM using RAMometer and the RAM sandwich method, running about 1500 iterations of RAMometer (yes, this takes overnight).

I think I do have only EDO dram. Really don't know about NEC
D4265800G5S. Could't find anything from internet. Kingston KTA 604/64
seems to be EDO but they do not straight say that anywhere. There is
some way to separate EDOs from non EDO by the part no. Do someone know
what?
You can look up the datasheets for the RAM chips at the chip manufacturer's web sites. However, it is my understanding that some chips can be configured to function in either mode (FPM or EDO) so even having the datasheet on the chips might not tell you if a module is EDO or FPM. Still, it shouldn't matter. On the other hand, the experience of folks on this list is that sometimes it seems to.

- Have anyone experiense does S900 recognize more than 1040 MB DRAM?
Just curious.
The S900 can recognize up to 1.5 GB of RAM, however, there is no way to install more than 1040 MB of RAM. It might be possible to make a 256 MB DIMM which would work, but no one sells one, so you're limited to 128 MB X 8 + 16.
