Should tell you all you need to know about fpm and edo and identify
your ram if it is made by one of the major manufs listed and NEC is
there. Very handy as I had two 32's which failed occasionally and turned
out to be 3.3 volt - 3.3 will work in a 5 volt slot but not very well. I
have a varied mixture of fpm and edo in mine with no problems though I
would like to know the speed of the 16 meg onboard as I have a logical
hunch the slowest chips set the speed for all the ram and if the onboard
is 70 ns faster additional ram becomes a pointless exercise.
The onboard 16 is - I seem to remember - 2 x 8 interleaved (shown at
A6 and B6 in my Pulsar with TechTool which I think puts up the slot
scheme for a 9500) which makes all the warnings about de-interleaving
pointless too.
I have one 128 meg 60 ns edo in my 8500 which has no onboard ram -
runs fine and dandy...
