If you like to get your hands dirty, you can really trick this machine out. My S900 is as follows (I put the prices I paid in brackets, keep in mind much has gotten cheaper in 2 years) :
XLR8 G3/300 in a ZIF socket. Soon be a G4/450 ($85) 400MB RAM (varies avg $25 stick) 20GB ATA HD ($99) TwinTurbo 128 4MB (Going to upgrade to a Radeon ME) IOGear USB 2.0 card ($10 after rebate) Sonnet Tempo ATA-66 ($99) SMC 1221 10/100 Ethernet Card (free, got it with my cable modem) Orange Micro Firewire Card ($30) LG 12x8x32 CD-RW ($79) Apple 5x/32x DVD/CD Rom (brand new, got it yesterday $35 from OWC) And about 10 USB devices. All in all (including the $300 I paid to acquire the machine almost 3 years ago) I have spent about $800. A tidy sum of money, but it was split over the coarse of 2 1/2 years. $35 here, $60 there. As I said, if you like to get your hands dirty, you'll love it. These are probably the most flexible machines I have ever laid my hands on. I don't think the new G4s will have the longevity of the S900. Oh....BTW, I'm typing this on my S900 using Mail.app from OS 10.2.3 Jaguar. I've had OSX on it since 10.1.2 last year. It is my primary computer and OS. - Robyn On Thursday, January 23, 2003, at 11:11 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > My daughter has finished college and returned home with her S900.
