I'll be trying a number of suggestions.

There are only three things that I can think of that might have prompted
this sudden death.

1) I was just previously selecting a recently OS 9.1 formatted scsi drive as
the startup drive so I could install some things on that drive that need it
mounted first in order to work. I had also been trying to upgrade it to 9.2
without success. I have a feeling that the failed upgrade left it without a
viable OS. Upon restart, the whole system failed. My followup restarts
were with this drive disconnected, but to no avail.

2) The attack on the Web last night got my computer. Low possibility but I
guess minimally feasible.

3) Earlier in the day I had disconnected my DVD/RAM Firewire plug after
dismounting the drive. Strangely, this froze up my system and I had to
force restart. So much for hot swappable.

I slept in this morning so I haven't started fiddling with the unit yet. I
tried installing my 15 gig ide drive into my c600 so I could have a easier
to use desktop but I don't think it liked the fact that 9.1 was installed on
it and not configured for that configuration. I may also have some people
over in a bit to help me put on a roof so that might take me away from
solving this for several hours.

So thanks Howie, Alan and those offline for suggestions. I will be trudging
through them as the day goes on.

Thank You,

Dave
