Long time since I used VistaScan - I thought it was awful - and I
have no experience of Vuescan - I use Umax MagicScan 4.5 for my 2400S and
I think it may work on the 610S too. It's streets better than VistaScan.
The scanner app has two similar interfaces - one is a Desk Accessory
standalone scanning application and the other is a Pshop import plug -
found under the File menu>import option - or Twain plug (tool without an
interesting name) will do if the scanner is alive and well. If you launch
the VistaScan DA it should give you info about the scanner if it can see
it - if it can't it may be a scsi problem. What does profiler say about
the scsi id of the scanner?
