O.K let me take another look at this damned flasher thing. i'll see if i can break the vise and extract the bits we need, without screwing my video card.
if we are lucky, the code will not be checksummed/encrypted, perhaps we can just res-edit in the bits we need. steve > From: John Albert <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>(SuperMacs List) > Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2003 14:55:54 -0500 > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>(SuperMacs List) > Subject: [SM] Radeon 7000 - Is a "Mac only" flash upgrade possible? > > Hello all, > > I've been following the Radeon 7000 "flashing" threads closely, trying to > archive relevant information. > > Unfortunately, the "source site" for this project is in German, and the > individual (Mitch?) who did the German-to-English translations did not put his > presentation together coherently enough for idiots like me to comprehend his > chain of thought <G>. > > From what I have been able to gather reading the information posted there and > here, there are possibly _two_ courses of action to flash the Radeon 7000 PC > to be usuable on the Mac: > > FIRST WAY (requires a PC): > - Flash the card on a PC with the "PC flasher" that was put together in this > "package": > <http://people.freenet.de/amichalak/7000PCI.sit> > - And then, use the ATI Mac ROM updater to "finish off" the card and make it > "Mac-ready". > > SECOND WAY (No PC required): > - Obtain a certain version of ATI's _Mac_ ROM updater software that is missing > the "hooks" that prevent it from "seeing" non-Mac-specific ATI Radeon 7000 > cards.
