This is here on the supermacs site. The mixup was likely a combo of poor writing and poor English to German . Chrisso's English is very good but he's native German speaker I believe. Mitch at the german forum on the other hand it is unknown what his native language is ;-) or maybe it's his writing style ;-) > FIRST WAY (requires a PC): > - Flash the card on a PC with the "PC flasher" that was put together > in this "package": > <http://people.freenet.de/amichalak/7000PCI.sit> > - And then, use the ATI Mac ROM updater to "finish off" the card and > make it "Mac-ready". > > SECOND WAY (No PC required): There is no second way at this time. See first way if you want to be successful! The version 2 rom flasher "updater" is the one currently available from ATi and is included in the package from Mitch at the german site. What you are thinking will work has been tested and it fails to work correctly but can be fixed using the first way. The reason we can't do this on a Mac only at this time . The available Mac flasher is an update only not full program. So it requires that a Mac firmware already be on the card in order for it to run and install. ATI has been very good about keeping flashers for the Mac locked up and pretty much impossible to come by. Many people have been trying for years to do this and it took this slip up by ATI to make it possible. That is what is being done on the PC. If and when someone can crack the code this maybe possible in the future. However the whole process takes like 5 mins so no big deal. Any serious coder or hacker is going to have access to a PC ;-) Best of luck Will S -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
