I settled on FPM long before I joined this list (when Umax's clone biz was still alive) and made sure to specify it. My (layman's) understanding is, simply put, our machines cannot take advantage of the speed boost the EDO offers over the FPM. Yes, FPM is a subset of EDO, and the conventional wisdom has been it's ok to load EDO memory in 700 and 900 Supermacs. There are listers who posted detailed technical reasons for or against EDO.
