Hello Listers, I've been using X on my J700 now for a month or so and have to say that back in 9.1 everything seemed to run faster and snappier. In X everything takes a millisecond longer, windows don't pop open quickly, scrolling in Acrobat jerks along annoyingly, etc. Whereas in the old system these symptoms disappear.
I'm running the Sonnet 450/G4 and Radeon 7000. OSx lives on its own 6Gb drive and I have about 1Gb ram. I installed the Sonnet OSx patch and accelerator. I also regularly do the permissions cleanup as suggested by Larry at OWC. Is this sluggish performance symptomatic of our older machines? Does anyone else have this problem? It's not like it's a huge issue, just bothersome, that's all, although I am contemplating reverting to the old system. John -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
