New to the list, so apologize if the topic has been covered. Reading with interest the posts on routers and DSL.
My situation is as follows: Have a C500 in the spare room running OS 8.1. Want to link it to my newer flat panel Imac G4 running OS X.2 (maybe share files, share printer and ADSL connection). So installed Ethernet PCI card in the C500, ran cable between the machines, then found out I need OS 8.6 for ethernet to work. Local used shop wants $80 for OS 8.5 , which I presumably then upgrade to 8.6 with free download from Apple. Any thoughts on where to get OS 8.5 cheaper? (I gather apple doesn't sell anymore)?? or other solutions? (judging from the posts, people are taking their Supermacs beyond 8.6, which my documentation says cannot/should not? be done). Also appreciate any thoughts on routers, and general experience linking with OSX. -- paul heraty [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
