The C500 will run OS 9.1 just fine, however you might need to up the amount of RAM installed. OtherWorld Computing had some special deals on OS 9 and some on RAM too. The only real problem is with the non-Apple ROMed CD drive. It will not boot from an Apple CD beyond (I think it was) OS 8.1.
