Is my understanding correct:

A 'driver' is software that allows the card to
communicate with a HD?

Utilities set-up formats the HD in to sectors etc.?

Have an IBM Deskstar 120GXP and the ATA card IDE
processor ATP-860 can't find it.

If a driver is needed-where to go?
