Sorry my suggestion didn't work. I have an Apple LaserWriter 16/600, and 
all I had to do was choose AppleTalk in the "add a printer" dialog and 
it showed up. It's connected to the ethernet via the port in the back to 
a hub on our LAN. I just thought it was worth a try considering they 
were both made by HP. Are you sure AppleTalk is turned on in the network 
settings? Just a thought.
