Where would one look for the UPS you are talking about?

Good morning, Sybil -
The voltage stabilization feature is mentioned on the packaging if you look
carefully on some brands.
As for specifics, APC's "Pro" models have this feature. (I have the BackUPS
Pro 650 and 1100. Nancy Heitz also owns several of the Pro models.)
I think they call their votage stabilization function Smart Boost and Smart
Trim.
(I ignore the USB features on a UPS because I can't take advantage of it.)
I noticed more brands are offering this feature instead of it just being a
plain battery backup.
Also noticed some less expensive, smaller capacity models offering it.
If you have a Sam's Club nearby, I picked up the 1100 for $130, an
unbelieveable deal considering I paid around $250 for the 650 back in 1998 and
they are still selling for close to that amount these days.
It's a heavy beast but a very reassuring presence.
Dispite a very well configured 200-amp rated service panel and a dedicated
12-amp circuit, the UPS occasionally clicks into action for a split second,
more then likely for boosting the voltage to the proper level.
I'm beginning to sound like a broken record (some of you remember LPs ?) with
another post about voltage stabilized UPS....
Hello, Just caught this discussion on "line conditioner's" from APC, be very
careful with these devices, I had a client that "fried" an iMac with one of these
units. I personally believe there not worth the trouble they may cause.
