[SM] Laptop as monitor?

Would like to use one of my S9's as a remote server, by remote I mean 
stuffed in a corner of my workshop without a monitor. Can anyone advise 
a laptop (Apple preferred) that has video input and will allow pass 
through of external video source ?

Have tried software programs that allow something like this but these 
tend to gobble up processor power.

Typically I need to look at the server only a few times a week and don't 
have the space for an extra monitor.
