Is the chip EDO? What's the refresh rate--2K? I had a problem with a 64mb chip some years ago--it was the right kind (EDO) and right refresh rate, but it just wouldn't work. I bought it from Megamacs.com and they replaced two until we got one that worked in my C600.

Just last week I popped a 64 in a C500 at work and it wouldn't boot (no chime). That's why I asked. This machine is really odd. I had it at home without the RAM and it wouldn't boot. I pulled everything out of it (I had reset the PRAM and CUDA several time. Put it back together and it booted. Same thing happened at work. Maybe being unplugged helped it.

But yours boots and freezes. Sounds like bad RAM. Have you run Ram-o-Meter?

Yes, tried this and am quite certain the chip is seated properly. I've even tried it without the 8 meg chip to see if there was some conflict between them, yet the problem persists.

Thanks,
