I have no idea if the following will work well in a Mac. And I don't know if it will specifically work in the C500, because I think there are issues with PCI cards that have PCI-PCI Bridges on board in the C series (different issues from the S/J series), but SIIG makes a USB/Firewire/Ethernet card which supports 10/100 ethernet. The Ethernet chipset is the RealTek 8139 which has MacOS drivers available. It might be worth looking at.
Cool, thanks for your input. I will start looking into that. I have always had
good luck with SIIG products on my PCs.
I am seriously considering getting one to the point where I did some shopping. This <http://www.shopperwiz.com/shopdisplaydetail.asp?id=378516&Ref=FROOGLE&ts=20040106&Key=084002997> is the best price I could find on the card when one considers shipping. I think the total is about $43 - $44.
I guess I should check XLR8yourmac.com's compatibility database to see if anyone has tried it. I think I shared a few emails with someone who picked one up on sale at CompUSA several months ago, and my vague hazy memory says he had trouble getting the ethernet to work, but I still think it's worth a try.
