I'm pretty sure G3G4 Cache Control isn't designed for the on-die L2 cache the PowerPC 750FX uses. Older G3 upgrades and afaik all G4 upgrades have backside L2 (it's really L3) cache that that utility is designed to control. The correct utility is Powerlogix's CPU Director, though it hangs my S900.
The driver CD that comes with the CarrierZIF slocket is for the XLR8 ZIF upgrades. It may or may not work with anything else. IIRC, the DIP switches on the CarrierZIF control the bus speed, and the multiplier is set by the DIP switches on the Powerlogix ZIF. I don't know which combinations yield what speeds. Apple System Profiler probably won't report the speed correctly anyway. I'm fairly certain that what CPU you have installed has no effect on the System blessing. The only thing I'm coming up with is zap the PRAM and let the machine sort itself out. -Drew B -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
