I knew that these used the same motherboards, but didn't realize how identical they
were until I received my S-900 last week. If you rotate the CD-ROM cage 90
degrees (it'll still fit!) and set the J-700 on its side, you'll basically have a S-900. The
front bezel won't work/look right and you've got no feet to stabilize the unit, but
electronically it would be the same, (except the extra PCI slots, of course!).

The case used for both models is the Palo Alto Products ATCX Convertible. And as Scott notes, it really is convertible. However, you do need to replace the front bezel in order to convert it and the left side/bottom and bottom/right side (also as Scott noted).

However, in going to the S900 I would think only the front bezel and the new bottom (for stability) would be critical. If Frank still has his stock of case parts the original poster might check with him. I'm pretty sure he said he had bezels. I'm not sure if he had any case bottoms or sides.

Some list members have soldered in the PCI sockets on the J700 to get the two additional slots.
