I have been having a strange problem on my s900. It all started when I had to replace my trusty ole ADB kensington orbit trackball, due to it no longer was working correctly, even tho it had been cleaned.
So I wanted to purchase the EXACT same trackball But, Kennsington had to go & mess with a great thing! They since had added an adapter to be able to use it for ADB or USB. Either way, you HAD to use the adapter.
The instructions said you didn't have to load the software so I choose not too, since it said you only needed it IF you wanted to be able to program the buttons on it. After hooking up the new trackball, everything was good for about a week, then I would be starting up my s900, it would get halfway started? or so, & just restart on it's own, 2-3 times or more if I let it go on. If it didn't do that, it would freeze up, sometime during the startup.
I called tech support, & they said I had a defective trackball so they sent out a new one for me. Well guess what... I have the same problem!
I have switched keyboards & tried the new trackballs, to no avail. I have trashed the finder & system pref's & the mouse pref's. So, now I'm back to the not working correctly trackball. Help!
