Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas at that point.

Thanks Jeff, I will give that a try. I didn't mention but I have even done a clean install! :-( & that didn't even clear it up... So for now I either have to suffer with this darned "not working well anymore trackball" or purchase another brand of trackball that is ADB... But, first I will def. give your last suggestion a try.
