I do not think it is the EDO ram causing the lockups... although the Supermac FAQ suggests using only non-edo ram. Ended up using two FPM 128's from OWC myself when trying to make a Sonnet Crescendo 800 work with Panther (it never did with any version of OSX). Also J38 has been jumpered to effectively remove onboard cache.
What I have concluded is Sonnet is falsely advertising their product to be both S900 compatible and OSX capable at the same time. I have yet to see anyone who has both (OSX and a 700/800 card with perhaps a Radeon card as the third variable, which Sonnet promotes..) running. Ended up with a XLR8 carrier and a Daystar zif running at 512MHz (57 FSB) on my S900 and it has run solidly for 40 days and counting. Will be upgrading to 10.3.5 this weekend. Xbench scores (subject to interpretations but interesting to tinker with) are in the 43 range.
