It may of not been as long ago as you think. At least in some parts of the country. When I moved to Portland in 1984. The local chain grocery store "Fred Myers" (now part of Krogers) still had tube kiosks as did all the local Radio shacks. In fact since tubes were still so easy to come by and test. I sold my tube tester at a garage sale. It wasn't my idea ;-) But as a collector of old radios I sure wish I still had it . Will S
