YMMV, but in any case, if we would not have moved to it, SeaMonkey
would be dead by now.
Why ?
Because our team would be unable to maintain the whole Mozilla code for
the Gecko 1.8.1 branch, and in terms of website support as well as
features like crash recovery and others, SeaMonkey 1.1.x started to
badly suck compared to other products out there. We would have lost
users rapidly (actually we have been losing quite a few already) and
would have gained zero new ones. Unmaintainable code and decreasing user
number mean death of the project, while what we want is an ability to
gain new users and not only maintain the code but even improve it and
develop new capabilites.
You will say the same after switching to SM 2.1 ?
The switch to 2.1 will be much less painful than the one from the
half-dead 1.x to the well-alive 2.0.x branch.
