Still, I would prefer the official header look that you get when you forward a message. Is that possible on a reply?

OK, how about this?

You forward the message inline, but when the composition window opens, you edit the subject line to remove the [brackets] and the "Fwd:" and substitute "Re:"; you can also modify the subject further if you like.

Will that get you what you want?

It does break with normal email convention, but you seem to want to do so.
