You two are both using Windows XP. How much ram? Free disk space? The program should be ready to go in just a couple of seconds. Do either of you have it open a page on the web as the start page? -- change it to a blank page. Clear your cache. Stop it from checking for email at startup. My wife uses SeaMonkey (still at 1.1.18) and on a P4 3.2GHz running Ubuntu 8.04, it is ready to go in one to two seconds.
