Guys, I've an Acer 3620 laptop with SM 1.1.16 and Windows XP Home. Some problems with the computer itself lately. Like, for instance: computer won't turn itself off even with its On-Off switch - I have to pull the power lead out, replace, and then hit On/Off switch.

Anyway, Christmas approaching. Time to upgrade SM. Used something called MozBackup (1.4.5) but don't think it backed up my (several years' emails). (It's a long time since I last used the thing, and I'm totally rusty on how it works.) Proceeded anyway to download SM Setup 2.0.11 (10.1 MB). Used it and - though I looked away at one point - it seemed to do the job.

But when I re-booted the computer and after the supposedly upgraded SM asked about my various preferences and stuff like that, I eventually decided to click on Help/About SeaMonkey. Surprise. It still shows my version to be 1.1.16.

Yet my Norton System Doctor shows a drop of over 1000MB in available space.

I'm edgy that if I start all over, disaster may strike (like SM won't work at all or something). Maybe for now I'll just leave things as they are. But what to do in the long run?

Suggestions? Help? And what about that lost 1000MB (or more) of hard drive space?

Thanks - Ken (in Oz)
