I've been having problems trying to print from SeaMonkey's email
interface. Even though the default printer settings calls for letter
size paper, SeaMonkey thinks the paper size is 2" x 4" and it cuts up
the email onto separate pages. I tried changing the paper size from
inside the email interface using the File> Page Setup, but page size
is not an option. I'm using version 2.0.13 on Windows XP with SP3.
Any idea how to fix this?
What your printer thinks are its defaults and what SeaMonkey thinks are
its defaults don't always match. For example, all my printers have
default portrait orientation, but if I choose landscape in SM, it will
keep that as the program default until I change it -- even after a
restart. SeaMonkey apparently never reads the printer's own defaults, it
keeps its own separate listing.
To verify this, go to about:config and filter on "print_paper_" --
you'll see a listing of all your printers, each with the following
parameters:
...print_paper_data
...print_paper_height
...print_paper_size
...print_paper_size_type
...print_paper_size_unit
...print_paper_width
If SM really thinks your paper size is 2"x4", you should see:
...print_paper_height 2.00
...print_paper_width 4.00
The normal way to fix this (without messing with about:config) is as
follows:
Instead of hitting the "Print" button (which is a shortcut for "print
the entire document using the current settings, no questions asked"), do
File | Print or CTRL-P. In the Windows print dialog that appears, select
your printer and click the "Properties" button. Select the appropriate
paper size, orientation, etc. OK out, making sure to follow through and
actually print. SeaMonkey should remember these settings.
