I don't need to replicate anything, as know what the code does, because
I wrote that code that forces a certain set of zoom levels. And I didn't
offer a solution, as I don't think there is one.
I'm still a bit unsure what your actual problem is - do you need a
different set of zoom levels? Did you manage to do that in any previous
SeaMonkey version?

Well Mr. Kaiser, since you wrote the code and so know that the
solutions offered here by the other posters won't work
"as I don't think there is one."
you could have written as much here earlier
and so saved Mr. Mullen from his frustrating experiences and
needing to make his exasperated posting.

Well, actually Mr. Rostyslaw "Smartass" Lewyckyj, Robert was the first
to answer, and he said that SeaMonkey needs to force-set a certain set
of zoom levels (different than the Firefox defaults IIUC) for
localization reasons.

And I asked for a further explanation as that simple statement did nothing to explain the situation to me.

Still waiting.

Of course, no one could guess that Mr. Mullen was "being driven crazy"
(his words) until he told us so.

I'm pretty sure my original post containing the phrase "What the heck is going on?" should have been a sufficient indication of my frustration.

If not, let me add this:

Reading up on zoom levels in Bugzilla, getting Robert's reply, I am more in the dark than ever. We need finer control over text zoom levels. In fact, I see no reason why the user can't set this pref to his desire.

The devs have no idea what my eyesight is like, what size display I have, nor what resolution that display is set to.

this limitation on zoom levels is bringing SeaMonkey closer to the dis-functional zoom "feature" of IE, even in its version 9, which is still horrible.

One of the great things about the Mozilla product model was ultimate user configuration. It's being whittled away bit by bit. And the product is becoming mure unusable and lsess user-friendly.

You know what that is? It's making SM more like FF: Dumbed down for the masses. If that's what is going to happen then SM is going to die a faster-than-slow death.

I want finer granular control over text zoom. I used to have NoSquint but it doesn't work in 2.1b3. The native zoom is totally inadequate.

I'm screwed.

Robert mentioned "localization" without describing what it is or how it mandates the functional restriction in question.

So, I'm still as frustrated and still as much in the dark.
