I currently cannot check this for 100%, as
this Insert-option is dysfunctional in my SM.
However, since it's specifically in the HTML-insert menu, I'm
pretty sure it does not create Unicode, but HTML-code.
When I enter a :-) from that very same menu, that's what SM puts
in the code:
<span class="moz-smiley-s1"><span> :-)
</span></span>
So I would expect something like Ü to be create by that
option.
Well. Let me start by saying that I think that smilies are
something
of a red-herring, and I would prefer to focus on "real" uses, so
let
me try to compose my wife's name using the "Insert" feature :
Ȃu Dựợng Lệ Khanh
(Support is incomplete : I couldn't find u-horn or o-horn without
dot-under), but I /suspect/ that it has inserted real Unicode
here;
let us send the message and see !
Philip Taylor (using 2.0.14, where this feature is unbroken).
Vietnamese is also unbroken in my 2.3.3: ứ ừ ử ữ ự
But I would normally not enjoy inserting more than one or two
unusual characters this way; I would resort to Character Map
instead: ứ ừ ử ữ ự
That works fine from here, too, and it’s a lot easier to see what
I’m doing.
Or for languages where I have the keyboard installed, I’d use that: вишь, печатаю
по-русски без трудности. 필립, 힘내세요, 씨몽키 있자나요!
