I was installing v2.10.1 into a new directory/folder in an old, updated
Windows XP Pro. SP3 machine that had v2.0.14. I noticed it took the old
addons as well which I did not want. Is there a way to avoid this? I
just want to install the latest SeaMonkey as new from scratch and then I
do the reinstalls and reconfigurations of addons, extensions, import old
bookmarks, copy *.mab files, etc. manually. I don't want them to be
touching each other as well.

2.10.1 uses the same profile as 2.0.14, and addons are installed in your
profile. You can try starting 2.10 with the -profileManager switch or if
already in SeaMonkey, go:
Tools ->  Switch Profile...

Ah. Dang. I don't want both web browsers to interfer each other. Ugh.

So, using what Philip said, give yourself a new, empty, profile for SM 2.10.1!! Then 2.0.14 will have a profile (the default) and 2.10.1 will use the new one, never to interfere with each other (unless you want).
