Your election to wait to install 2.15.x across 400+ computers is, of
course your choice. It may even be a good choice in your
situation/environment, but in the interim your company is at risk to the
CVE's listed. That said, I'd be pretty hesitant to tell someone an
individual on this list to stay at a 2.14 release without (IMO) good
reason.
Hallo
I would have installed 2.14, even without Rob's sound advice to do so.
Even though, in your opinion, there's no good reason for being one
step behind, I believe it does make sense.
There have been a number of threads about problems in the newest
version. Every time there's a new release, problems (for want of a
better word), appear. The release doesn't quite go the way it was
expected/intended to a greater or lesser degree. It doesn't matter
how much beta testing there has been, it's only when a product is
being operated by the intended users that other
faults/errors/bugs/quirks will be found. The reason being that most
beta testers know what they are doing and customers don't - the latter
just want to use the product. It's like Rob says: he can pick up
bugs/problems but others using the program in a different way will
pick up different bugs/problems.
I used to write user manuals for systems I used myself. The first
instruction was not how to do a particular task - it was "turn on the
machine"! That may sound daft but there are users who /are/ that
daft! That's especially so when it's a new user or one unfamiliar
with the system.
Now I'm retired, I do respite care with a severely disabled youngster.
I get the "experts" telling me how things /should/ be while I can
see how things actually are. The two seldom match because the
"experts" are book learned and expect everything to be "by the book",
whereas as I've learned by observation. Life isn't "by the book" -
nor is SeaMonkey in the hands of non tech users. So when things go
wrong, a nice, clear, calm, non tech, plain English explanation is
what's needed.
