the long thread on bookmarks raised a new question in my mind.
is there any way to get rid of the entries in the Bookmark dropdown like:
"Bookmarks Toolbar"
and "Recent Tags".
I have no use for them, and they are at the top, stealing valuable
screen space.
I can't delete them from the BM.
oh, and what are Tags, btw

...interesting. I don't have a Recent Tags in my drop down, but I have
no idea when or how I got rid of it! (running OS X 10.6.8 myself.)
I think you can get rid of Bookmarks Toolbar by simply deleting that
Folder, but I like to keep a few of my most used links (no more than
will partially fill the Toolbar) in there and available in the Bookmarks
Toolbar at the top of my Browser. If you don't use that I can see why
you might want to be rid of it - if you change your mind you can simply
create a new Folder named Bookmarks Toolbar and you'll get it back...at
least that's how it used to work...
I *really* wish I could get rid of Unsorted Bookmarks...it's of *zero*
use to me, and could be better re-mechanized without requiring having to
have a static Folder, IMO.
