In that case, compare the settings on the two programs, you probably have something mistyped in SM: Edit | Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings | Your_Account_Name | Server Settings

Also double-check your SMTP settings on both programs against what your ISP wants you to use:
Edit | Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings | Outgoing Server (SMTP)
