I am now able to receive mail, and all my folders are correctly mapped.
However, I am still unable to send mail via SM. (I've updated now to
2.20.) I was never prompted to provide a password, so I suspect that
might be the problem. I can send mail via Thunderbird, and the settings
for the outgoing server are exactly the same as for SeaMonkey. I'm
really at a loss. I get an error message from the SMTP server, but it's
not helpful:
Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent using SMTP server smtp.purdue.edu for an
unknown reason. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are
correct and try again, or contact your network administrator.
Logically, if you're doing exactly the same thing (same settings, same
password) with two different programs, you should get the same result.
So it's likely that there's some discrepancy you've overlooked.
To clear your SMTP password in SeaMonkey, look for the site
smtp.purdue.edu in the Password Manager and delete it. The next time you
try to send mail, you should be prompted for a password.
That's a big problem -- there is NO entry for smtp.purdue.edu in the
Password Manager.
