I have had to change my email password at my server, but now I am not
able to access my mail with SM (2.19). I never get a prompt to change
the password, just a timeout to the server. How can I change the
password? I've deleted the account and created a new one, but I'm never
asked for a password.
Remove any cookies related to you server and remove any
username/password for your Server
then reenter everything as it comes up.
That's exactly the problem: there is NO entry for a password (or
anything else) for my smtp server.
OK, maybe you're not looking in the right place (it threw me at first, too).
In the Password Manager, instead of looking for smtp.purdue.edu, look
for purdue.edu. If you click that entry, then in the right-hand pane
you'll see several entries, one beginning with "smtp" -- that's the one
you want.
For example, I use verizon.net, and I have the following entries
(concealing my personal data):
mailbox://mail.verizon.net (mailbox://mail.verizon.net)...username...PW
smtp://smtp.verizon.net (smtp://smtp.verizon.net)...username...PW
The first one is to receive mail, the second is to send mail.
