Right, got it working now, Very many thanks. It's easy when you know
how, but of course difficult when you don't!
This new installation has automatically picked up my adobe flash player
where my original one had failed, so now it all looks to be very workable.
Not only that, I've improved my understanding of PPAs and interaction
with sources list and software that's not Ubuntu main release, so my
recent difficulties in reaching this point haven't been in vain.
