It's been my experience that IMAP with SeaMonkey is not quite as
comfortable as I'd like. I archive all my IMAP mail in local folders.
Been using it for years, both Mac and Windows, works just fine. Issues
tend to be at the ISP end (the server I run never gives me problems, the
account I have at GoDaddy sometimes shows symptoms of overload).

YMMV, of course, but I've found that SeaMonkey does not do offline
access to synchronized IMAP folders very well. Subscribing has not
enabled offline access to most folders I've used. Online is great.
Offline, not so much.
Odd. Been using IMAP since Mozilla Suite. Everything synchronizes just
fine with all folders/messages available offline locally.
