I know that the docs for Waterfox explicit make a note about that. Apparently, Waterfox will use a Firefox profile (if it exists), and if you decide you don't want Waterfox, and go back to using Firefox exclusively, you have to make sure you don't kill your Firefox profile.

I guess that can be useful for doing a test install, to see how things work with live data, but to me, it's better to make a full copy, and not risk potential problems with two different apps (which can run simultaneously) trying to use the same data.
