Find the "Preference Name" signon.startup.prompt If it is set to
'true' (the default), then Seamonkey will ask for a password on
startup. If you change it to 'false', then you will not be asked for
a password until it is required by a web page.
SeaMonkey has never asked me for a master password, and I haven't
configured one. On looking at the key you describe, I see it is set to
"default/boolean/true." Something's fishy here, but since I don't want
to be nagged about a password, I'm not going to change anything.
I have a total of nine keys containing the string "signon" in their
name, and all are set to defaults except signon.SignonFileName, which is
user-set. I searched my entire \Mozilla folder in Windows for its value,
and there is no such file there. I even spent the time to search my
entire C: drive, with no hits.
BTW, when the v. 2.24 installer failed, I had to uninstall v. 2.23 to
get v. 2.24 to install -- does that count as a "fresh installation" for
your purposes? I did use my existing profile.
