Hartmut, your pref is changing the background colour (or color, :-) ).
How does that effect the colour of the type??

You can set other values as well, font-family, -size, -color, other
things...

.moz-txt-sig, .moz-signature {
    name-1: value;
    name-2: value;
    [...]
    name-n: value;
}

Maybe you have to add !important. Exercise gains knowledge. :-P

I'm aware that here are various things that can be done by altering prefs, just seems strange that OP wanted to disable the making of the sig text lighter, and you reply with the pref that, I guess, makes the background change colours!!
