account at verizon.com?
True for webmail access, but not for POP. Workable settings here:
Server Name: pop.verizon.net
User Name: aflgihag
Port: 995
Connection Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication method: Normal password
where "aflgihag" is your email prefix (the part before the "@" sign).
There may be other workable possibilities, but this set has worked for
me for two years.
I agree with you for POP issues. But when he first discussed the issue
in another thread, he started by stating "Until recently I have been
able to log into verizon.net to pay billing and check email. Today I go
and cannot log in, especially to pay bills."
I assumed this was a continuation of that because you cannot pay bills
at Verizon.net. If this thread was not a continuation, my mistake. Sorry
You're probably right, but I don't have time to chase down the other
thread, wherever that may be.
And the OP should probably ask Verizon for the correct settings. Of
course, tech support may not be helpful because many webmasters assume
that all user systems are configured just as their own systems are --
same version of IE, same default settings, same cookie policies (always
accept all), etc. With that many false assumptions, it's hard to
troubleshoot.
